In the afternoon, visit Memphis: the ancient capital founded by Menes (circa 3100 BC): He was a pharaoh of the Protodynastic Period of ancient Egypt, to whom classical tradition attributes the merit of having unified Upper and Lower Egypt and being the founder of the First Dynasty. Afterwards, visit the Pyramids of Cheops: It was named after George Wharton James for its resemblance, albeit fanciful, to the famous pyramid built by the Egyptian pharaoh Cheops. Visit Chephren: Khafre, or Chephren, was an ancient Egyptian ruler, the fourth king of the Fourth Dynasty, who lived in the first half of the Old Kingdom period. Visit Mycerinus: Menkaure, or Menkaura, was a pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt during the Old Kingdom.
